Malkangiri: An active member of Kalimela Dalam of the CPI(Maoist) on Thursday surrendered before the police in Malkangiri district, police said.

The Maoist, identified as Maka Beti (36), of Dariguda village under Gamphakonda gram panchayat, surrendered before Malkanghiri Superintendent of Police Mitrabhanu Mohapatra.
As the Maoists were working against the poor people, Beti said he decided to quit the outfit and join the mainstream.
