Bhubaneswar: The All Odisha 662 Non-Government Lecturers’ Association cooperated with the Government in conducting Plus III examination, which kicked off today under Berhampur university,sporting black badges even as the first Ministerial Committee meeting headed by Finance Minister Pradip Amat failed to resolve the issue.
The association, however, threatened to intensify the agitation in coming days if their demand of job regularization is not considered.
"We have joined the examination duty keeping in view the students’s career. But, the colleges will remain close as usual once the exam is over," Sattabuddin Ahamad, secretary of 662 Lecturers' Association said.
On the other hand, All Odisha 488 Lecturers' Association, which has been on a night-long dharna, begged apology from the students a couple of days before the Plus II examinations. "Excuse us, if you can", the association said in a message. "The government has forced us to seat on the roads even during the exam time. We have been deceived by the government with only false assurances. However, our best wishes are always with our students," Pabitra Mahala, president of 448 lecturers' association, said.
The next meeting of the Ministerial Committee will be held to discuss the demands of the college teachers and employees soon. Minister of State for Higher Education Pradip Panigrahy said preliminary round of discussion was held with the representatives of college teachers’ association.
As Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner were not present at Bhubaneswar, a decision on the demands of the college teachers will be taken at the next meeting, he said. “We requested the agitating college teachers to cooperate with the State Government for the smooth conduct of the examinations,” he said.
