Bhubaneswar: At a time when the State government is being attacked left, right and centre over the Brahma Paribartan fiasco, a picture of Law minister Arun Sahu sleeping among servitors, which is doing rounds in the social media, has created a buzz among the general public and drawn sharp criticism from the opposition Congress and BJP.

According to sources, the photograph was taken at Sabarpalli in Gadakuntania where the ‘daru’ or holy wood of Sudarshan was traced. Moreover, in another photograph, the minister is also seen with folded hands seeking blessings from the Daitapatis.

Criticizing the photographs, State Congress president Prasad Harichandan demanded that these pictures be brought under the purview of an impartial inquiry to find out who all were involved in the delay in the final Nabakalebar rituals.

Similarly, senior BJP leader Bijay Mohapatra said that his party has been highlighting the State government’s flagrant violation of law since the beginning of ‘daru’ identification process and such photographs are a testimony to it.

Meanwhile, Sahu has shied away from commenting on the matter.

The sources said while the irregularities in conducting the rituals on June 16 has spread ripples among the State authorities, the photograph of the Law minister sleeping will definitely put the government at the odds.
