Bhubaneswar: National Award-winning filmmaker Himansu Khatua’s much talked about film ‘Krantidhara’ is all set to release tomorrow across Odisha.

Confirming the news, the acclaimed director said, “We are releasing ‘Karantidhara’ commercially in around 13 screens across the state, including two in Bhubaneswar.”

In Bhubaneswar, the movie will be screened at INOX and Sriya Complex, Khatua added.

Krantidhara is based on a story by Itirani Samanta, which chronicles the struggle of a woman in a political scenario with National School of Drama (NSD) alumnus Samaresh Routray and model-turned-actress Gargi Mohanty playing the lead roles.

Debashis Patra, Priya Mishra, Bijaylaxmi Praharaj, Bidyutprabha Patnaik, Puspa Panda and Hadu play significant roles in the film.

“Finally, the audience will watch a good Odia film with beautiful performance by almost all actors. We hope the viewers will love the film,” said lead actress Gargi Mohanty, who is excited to attend the premiere.

The film has been made under the banner of Kadambini Media Pvt. Ltd. Susanta Bahinipati is the cinematographer while Ajay Mishra has edited the film.

An interesting fact about the film is this the first-ever Odia film recorded on sync sound. The audience can hear the original voice of the artists instead of dubbed voices, the director claimed.

The film has already garnered much appreciation at a host of film festivals such as Chennai International Film Festival and Bengaluru International Film Festival among others.

Besides, it also bagged the Best Film at the 26th State Film Awards for the year 2014.
