Cuttack: Senior Judge of Karnataka High Court, Justice Vineet Saran, will take oath as the 29th Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court on February 26.

Justice Saran will replace Justice DH Waghela, who was transferred as Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.

Born on May 5, 1957, Justice Saran got his Bachelor’s Degree from Allahabad University in the year 1976 and his LL.B. Degree in 1979-80
before being enrolled as an advocate with the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council on July 28, 1980.

He practised in the Allahabad High Court from July 28, 1980 to February 13, 2002 dealing with constitutional, civil and criminal cases. He fought for various private and public sector companies and also worked in the companies besides acting as special counsel for the Central and state governments.

He also served as Additional Advocate General for UP in 1995 and was later elevated as a permanent judge of the Allahabad High Court on February 14, 2002.

Later he was transferred to the Karnataka High Court where he took oath as a Judge February 16, 2015.
