Cuttack: Justice B P Ray was today sworn in as the new judge of Orissa High Court.

Chief Justice A K Goel administered the oath of office to Justice Ray, who was hitherto a judge of Kerala High Court.

With Justice Ray?s inclusion, the number of judges in Orissa High Court went up to 17, still five short of the sanctioned posts.

Sitting and former judges of the High Court, Advocate General Ashok K. Mohanty, members of the bar and several senior state government officials were present during the swearing-in ceremony, which took place inside the premises of the High Court.

The 59-year-old Justice Ray was earlier elevated to the bench of Orissa High Court in November 2007 after more than 25 years of practice in Constitutional, criminal, civil and taxation law. Justice Ray was then transferred to Kerala High Court in October 2010 and was continuing there till he was transferred here earlier this month.
