Chennai/Bhubaneswar: Parala king and successor of Gajapati dynasty, Maharaja Gopinath Gajapati Narayan Deo, who was discharged from Apollo hospital, has been taken back to the health institute on Tuesday from the Chennai airport for certain reasons, which are not yet known.

The king was been discharged form Chennai based private Hospital after his recuperation, said doctor Dillip Mishra treating the king. Gopinath (75), a two-time Lok Sabha member, was scheduled to reach his palace at Paralakhemundi on Tuesday night, sources said.

He has been under special treatment at Apollo following his deteriorating health condition at his residence. The state government had declared to meet all medical expenses of the king.

Notably, it was alleged that the king was put under house arrest by his own palace manager, Ananga Manjari Patra in a bid to usurp the royal properties. Patra had allegedly neglected the former MP over health care. Gopinath was suffering from diabetes, hypertension, chest infection and fracture in a leg.

After the matter came to limelight, the district administration shifted him to Chennai for better health treatment in August last year.

After some days, the manager and personal assistant Ananga and her two brothers along with another sister were found dead under mysterious condition in their house at Jangam Sahi in Paralakhemundi, which sparked much hue and cry in the State.

The government had ordered a Crime Branch probe into deaths which is currently in progress.
