Nuapada: Police on Monday claimed to have busted an inter-state fake currency racket with the arrest of two persons and seized fake notes with face value of Rs 2.20 lakh in Nuapada district.
Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Vijay Kumar Verma and Kanhaiya Lal Meshram, who hailed from Raipur and Rajim respectively in Chhattisgarh, from the fake currency manufacturing unit near here, SDPO Jugal Kishor said.
Besides the fake currency, police seized two printers, a laptop, a scanner, six mobile phones, CDs and other materials used for making fake currency from the unit.
The fake currency business was being operated in three states-- Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Odisha, Kishor said.
Five others were also involved in the racket, the SDPO said, adding efforts are on to arrest them.
