Eight killed in separate accidents in Mayurbhanj

Baripada: As many as eight persons were killed in three separate accidents in Mayurbhanj district on Monday.

According to sources, four members of a family, including a five-year old girl, were crushed under the wheels of a truck at Chianbeda square at Thakuramunda-Anandapur road while returning from the market.

The deceased have been identified as Kedar Masad, his wife Saru Masad, their daughter Mari Masad of Guduria panchayats and their relative Sheikh Ladu of Bhadrak.

In another incident, the driver and helper of an iron rod laden truck were killed after the ill-fated truck lost control and collided with a road side tree near Barakuli under Kuliana police limits in the district.

In another accident, a man and wife were killed after being hit a by pick-up van.

The incident took place while the couple was returning to Kuliana from Baripada.

Meanwhile, police have started investigation into the accidents after registering cases.
