Bhubaneswar: The row over the Bhuasuni Dumping Yard under Chandaka Police limits on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar settled after the locals withdrew their protest following assurance from the administration.

The locals had locked up the dumping yard in protest seeking fulfillment of various demands. As a result, the rubbish from various parts of Bhubaneswar was not being able to be dumped inside the yard.

According to sources, the locals were demanding a solid waste treatment plant the construction of which has been delayed. However, after BMC authorities, the ADM and other officials met the locals and held discussions, the protest was withdrawn.

“All the senior officials along with the sub-collector and ADM have discussed the matter with the locals and very soon the work on the plant will be started after soil test. The plant will also help us generate electricity and we have discussed the same with the CESU authorities,” said BMC Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena.
