Cuttack: The commissionerate police on Tuesday produced the Dhalasamant brothers and three of his associates in the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court.

Of the four associates of the Dhalasamant brothers, police produced Gudu, Debasis and Bhajana for their involvement in the murder of Om and Dipu while another associate Nirmala Rout could not be produced in the court on health grounds.

The court later sent all of them to Choudwar Circle Jail.

In the meanwhile, police detained Chiku, another associate of the Dhalasamant brothers, from near the court premises for interrogation.

The police had sought the permission of the court to take the two criminal brothers on a fresh seven-day remand with handcuffs.

Police on Monday had arrested Sukesh Sahu alias Sola, another close associate of gangster brothers, from Cuttack.

Sola was formally arrested for possession of illegal firearms after being detained and grilled for hours on Sunday about his alleged links with the criminal siblings.

A team of commissionerate police raided Sola’s house at Telisahi in Ranihata on Sunday and seized the illegal arms.

Sola had a good rapport with the Dhalasamant brothers and was working as a private contractor under the patronage of the two gangster brothers.

Police also raided the residence of Bholanath Bhagat of Badambadi for his alleged links with the D-brother. Sources said several important documents of a commercial entity floated by the Dhalsamant brothers were seized from Bhola’s house.

According to police, Bhola was looking after the financial affairs of the Dhalsamant brothers and had been on the run since the siblings were arrested.

Earlier on Monday, police had grilled Cuttack Nagar Yuvak Sangha working president Debasis Ghosh for his alleged links with the criminal siblings.

According to sources, the police interrogated Ghosh for nearly two hours at Chauliaganj police station to extract more information about function and monetary transactions of the organization.

On Saturday, Commissionerate Police had grilled Ranjita Biswal, BJD corpporator from ward number 7 and joint secretary of Cuttack Nagar Yuvak Sangha at Mahila police station over her alleged links with the arrested criminal siblings.
