Cuttack: The arrested criminal brothers – Sushil and Sushant Dhalasamant - who were produced before the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM)’s residence here today refused to go through a lie detection test.

The criminal siblings, who were produced by the Commissionerate Police before the SDJM after the end of their five-day remand, were sent to the Choudwar Circle Jail in Cuttack.

According to sources, the police will seek the court’s permission on Monday to take the criminal siblings on a fresh remand for further interrogation into the murder of their former aides Dipu and Om.

Meanwhile, police have arrested a youth from Jobra area here for his alleged links with the gangster siblings and seized a gun and six rounds of ammunition from him.

The arrested person has been identified as Sangaram Routray. Police had detained Sangram last night and is interrogating him about his links with the criminal brothers.

Revealing chilling details of the twin murders of Dipu and Om, Commissionerate Police on Friday had said that the accused criminal brothers beat the victims to death in Athgarh and burnt their bodies in a bid to destroy evidence.

In a press meet yesterday, Twin City Police Commissioner YB Khurania said “Both the victims were taken from their house to a farm house near Athgarh and beaten to death by D-brothers and their accomplices. To destroy evidence, they later took the bodies of Dipu and Om to Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum area, where they burnt the bodies with petrol. After four-five days, the bodies, which were burnt 80%, were discovered by the nearby villagers.”

Commenting on the motive behind the murder, Khurania revealed “Both Dipu and Om were accomplices of D-brothers and were sharp shooters. However, D-brothers had hatched a plot to eliminate both of them after they felt they were getting too big for their boots.”
