Cuttack: The Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court here on Tuesday allowed the commissionerate police to take Sushil and Sushant Dhalasamanta brothers on a fresh five-day remand.

This is the fourth phase remand of the criminal brothers. The police has already taken the duo on remand for 19 days.

Along with the criminal brothers, their aide Debasis Kar will also be taken on remand for interrogation.

Police sources said the varying statements of D-brothers on the vehicle they used to transport the bodies of Om Prakash Swain (Om) and Deepak Mallick (Dipu) after killing them in Cuttack had necessitated a fresh remand. The investigating officials believe that they will be able to elicit more information on the murder Om and Dipu.

“We have gathered more evidence against the gangster siblings about their criminal activities. Besides, the recent arrests of mobsters from other parts of the State have established their links with several other crimes. We need to investigate these,” an investigating officer said on condition of anonymity.

Notably, about a hundred persons with high-profile criminal backgrounds have recently been arrested from six coastal districts of the State, and are being interrogated on their suspected links with D-brothers.
