Cuttack: The BJP on Monday promised cheap meals and a mosquito-free Cuttack city if it got a chance to form the Cuttack Municipal Corporation council.

Releasing the party manifesto for next month?s local body election here, BJP state President K V Singh Deo hoped that people of Cuttack would not be carried away with BJD's 'empty rhetoric' and gives a chance to BJP to serve them better.

Taking a cue from many BJP-ruled states, the party promised to open Janata restaurants for the poor people where a meal would be provided at Rs 7 only.

The BJP also promised drainage, sewerage and removal of water-logging and the mosquito menace in its manifesto.

"After we parted way with BJD, Cuttack city has been grossly neglected. Not even a new park has come up here," Singh Deo said.

He claimed that development projects taken up in Cuttack city were executed before 2009 when BJP was heading the council with BJD.

The BJP has fielded candidates in all the 59 wards of the CMC with most candidates new to electoral politics.
