Bhubaneswar: Senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda today sought the intervention of the Indian High Commissioner in Canada to trace the whereabouts an Odia engineer of his constituency, who has gone missing in the country.

In a letter to Vishnu Prakash, High Commissioner of India to Canada, Panda said Bedaprakash Mohapatra, son of Arakhita Mohapatra of Tikanapur village in Garadpur block under Patkura police station limits in Kendrapara district, had gone to Canada in September, 2014, to work as a mechanical engineer at the head office of the Cold Seafood Ltd in Regina. However, he has not contacted his family in India since October 2015.

"Though the family members have tried to contact the above mentioned company and the agent and filed a written complaint with the Patkura Police Station, they have no information about Mohapatra till date. In light of this, I would urge you to kindly take steps to locate Mohapatra and inquire about his well-being,” Panda said in his letter.

The family, after failing in their efforts, had met the Kendrapara MP and sought his early intervention in the matter.
