Bahalada block engineer arrested while taking bribe

Baripada: An Assistant Engineer of Bahalada block was arrested for accepting a Rs 8,000 bribe to pass a MGNREGA work bill, Mayurbhanj Vigilance DSP SK Das Mohapatra revealed on Saturday.

The accused assistant engineer, identified as Pramod Kumar Sethy, had demanded Rs 10,000 from Shasha Gram Sanyojak Kalinga Behera to pass the work bill.

The assistant engineer was caught red handed by the vigilance sleuths, who were in hiding, while Behera was handing over Rs 8,000 to Sethy at his residence, added Das Mohapatra.

Meanwhile, the assistant engineer said he had been trapped in the bribe case falsely.
