After days of ruckus, the State Assembly began on a peaceful note today. The proceedings began with normal question hour. Issues related to drinking water problem, death of infants at Sishu Bhavan were discussed during the question hour.

Replying to queries over the supply of clean drinking water, the State Rural Development minister Badri Narayan Patra said a mega drinking water project worth Rs 25,000 crore to Rs 26,000 crore will be launched in Nuapada district. The project will later be rolled out to the rest of the State.

The issue of infant deaths at Sishu Bhawan in Cuttack was raised by BJD legislator Raja Swain in the Zero Hour of the Assembly. Raising the issue of infant deaths, Swain sought a status report from the State Health minister.

Meanwhile, the Opposition brought an adjournment notice over the deteriorating law and order situation in the State which was accepted by the Speaker Niranjan Pujari. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik will furnish a reply over the issue.
