Assembly adjourned sine die

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Assembly Speaker Niranjan Pujari on Wednesday adjourned the House sine die concluding the winter session ten days before the schedule.

The winter session, which began on December 1, was scheduled to end on December 26. However, citing no business the House was adjourned ten days earlier.

On the last day of the winter session of the House, a resolution on conferment of Bharat Ratna to legendary leader Biju Babu was passed in absence of Opposition members.

The resolution also demands installation of a statue of Biju Babu on the premises of the Parliament and the Centre’s observance of centenary of the legendary leader.

Amendment to Odisha District Planning Committee Bill-2015 was also passed in the House.

Like yesterday, the Opposition members boycotted the House on Wednesday over the issue of suspension of Congress MLA Naba Das.
