Puri: Repair work of the crumbling Jagamohan, the hall facing the sanctum sanctorum of Jagannath Temple here, will begin from January 27, said Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Suresh Chandra Mohapatra on Wednesday.

A decision in this regard was taken during a meeting of the temple’s managing committee on Wednesday evening. Following this, the repairing work of Jagamohan will be undertaken by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

The repair work would continue for nearly one year and devotees will not be allowed to have darshan of the deities and only those servitors who have rituals to perform can enter the temple during the renovation work.

The deities will be allowed to have darshan of the deities from outside barricade inside the temple and Sahanamela and Paramanika darshans will not be held during the construction work.

Notably, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration had decided on date of the repair work with Chhatisa Nijog on January 9.
