Bhubaneswar: Air Odisha director Trideeb Rout, who was arrested on Tuesday by the Commissionerate Police on charges of threatening his wife with death, was released on bail by a local court.

Rout, who was being pursued by Commissionerate Police in connection with the case, was nabbed near the Bhubaneswar airport while he was on his way to attend a function of Air Odisha. Later, he was forwarded to a local court.

As per the complaint filed by Rout’s second wife Rajalakshmi at the Chandraskeharpur police station two days back, the Air Odisha director threatened her with death near the Chandrasekharpur petrol pump while she was on her way with family members.

In her complaint, Rajalakshmi also quoted Rout as saying that she would face dire consequences if she did not withdraw the dowry torture case against him. Following this, Rajalakshmi lodged a complaint at the Chandrasekharpur police station. Rout had also engaged spies to keep track on Rajalakshmi, the complaint added.

Notably, Rout had recently got bail from the Odisha High Court in a dowry torture case filed by Rajalakshmi at the Mahila Police Station. Rajalakshmi and Rout are at present staying apart.

Rout’s first wife had filed three complaints against him whereas his second wife has lodged two.

Rout’s arrest has come as a huge embarrassment for Air Odisha, which was celebrating its first intra-state flight services from the Bhubaneswar airport today.
