Balasore/Bhubaneswar: A six-member team of Soro police on Saturday questioned Pralipta Priyadarshini Samal aka Jessy, driver Dhaneswar and event coordinator Pralay in connection with the death of Odia TV actor Ranjit Patnaik alias Raja.

The trio were released from the police station on personal recognisance bond after the end of questioning.

The team was led by Soro police station IIC Parsuram Sahu whereas Khandapada IIC Surendra Nayak, Balasore Industrial Estate police station IIC Paresh Rout, Sudarshan Das of Remuna police station and two other cops were its members.

The cops took the trio to the accident spot along with the vehicle they were travelling in for further interrogation.

The process for polygraph test, which is likely to be conducted on the trio on Monday has also started, sources said.

Notably, Raja was returning after performing in a stage show by Kalinga Kanya Gananatya at Taranka Tipisigadia under Makhanpur panchayat under Khaira block in Balasore district when the incident took place.

Though Jessy’s co-actor Tushar was supposed to attend the event, he could not join. Opera party officials expressed displeasure over it and blamed Raja.

Raja had a heated argument with Jessy over the matter and later got down from the car to relieve himself. Minutes later, the car driver heard a scream under the bridge nearby. He went down only to find Raja seriously wounded.

Initially, Raja was rushed to Bhadrak district headquarters hospital and was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
