Kendrapara: The Sadar Police, which had arrested six members of a dacoit gang last night and forwarded them to court today, said the gang leader has links with the D-brothers.

Talking to OTV, Purna Chandra Pradhan, SDPO, Kendrapara said Sadar Police had a tip-off that about 10-12 anti-socials had gathered near Kalapada and were planning to commit a major crime in the area last night. A team of Sadar police station raided the area and arrested the six dacoits. However, six more dacoits managed to escape. Police seized two bhujalis, two small knives, and iron rods from their possession.

Stating that the arrested dacoits have a number of cases relating to tender fixing, balighat auction, robbery and extortion in different police stations in the district, the SDPO said the arrested dacoits were associates of Litu alias Debi Prasad Das and Dipu alias Biplab Behera.

“With Litu lodged in the jail, Dipu is now leading the gang,” he added.

In course of interrogation of these six dacoits, police has to come to know that the two gang leaders had close links with the Dhalasamant brothers of Cuttack, he said.

“Police is now investigating the matter,” the SDPO informed.
