Paradip: Smugglers have allegedly pilfered oil being transported from Indian Oil Corporation here on its way to Kalinga Calciner, a private company.

The director of the Kalinga Calciner alleged that the quantity of the oil unloaded was found to be less than what it was during filling. He said oil had been stolen on the way many times before, but the quantity pilfered on Friday was a whopping 240 liters, the maximum so far.

Security officials engaged in the vehicles during transportation said the truck was parked at Bauria-Palanda square for at least 30 minutes during which some mafias could have looted the liquid material.

On being informed, officials of Kalinga Calciner and IOCL reached the spot for an inquiry. A complaint has also been lodged following which the driver and helper have been detained.
