Bhubaneswar: The promotional campaign to garner maximum public support for the state-based hockey team franchisee ‘Kalinga Lancers’ is on full swing for the fourth edition of Hockey India League (HIL) to be held from January 18 to February 21.

Twelve buses running between Cuttack and Bhubaneswar have been given the team branding. The moving signages, which capture audience’s attention instantly and directly, feature players of Kalinga Lancers. This apart, another 15 buses are waiting to hit the roads once the players of the team arrive in the capital city.

The home team, three of them from Odisha, is scheduled to arrive here by January 6.

Australian trainer David John, who has served as the physiologist of India’s Men's Hockey Team from 2011-2012, will arrive by January 8 and conduct a fitness assessment of the domestic players to keep them in the best physical condition before the arrival of head coach Mark Hager, who is expected to arrive on January 12 along with the foreign players.

Hopes are riding high on the former Australian player to guide the team towards a better show in the event and hopefully, victory in this edition.

Hager is currently the head coach of the New Zealand women’s team.
