Rayagada: The Town Police arrested 10 members of a dacoit gang in a late night raid on Saturday.
Giving the details to the media on Sunday, Rayagada SP, K Siva Subramani said, the Town Police received a confidential information on Saturday night about the presence of some suspicious elements near Landa hills.
“Acting on the information, a special team of Town Police rushed to the spot and arrested 10 persons. During interrogation, it was revealed that of the 10 detained persons nine were involved in 12 dacoity and burglary cases while another person was involved in a case of stealing cash by breaking the dickey of a bike recently. Interrogation of these 10 arrested dacoits is on,” the SP informed.
He said the stolen items seized from the possession of these arrested dacoits include an iPad, a silver cup, four gold rings, two melted gold bars, two gold chains and four bikes.
The SP also requested the locals to cooperate with the police by providing early information to prevent the dacoity and burglary cases in the town.
“We also request the people to inform the beat police officer before leaving their houses so that the officer will have a watch on their houses to prevent dacoity or burglary. We have already introduced local policing which will be successful if the locals and the media will sincerely cooperate with the police,” he pointed out.
