Cuttack: The Orissa High Court lawyers will continue their cease-work stir demanding arrest of police officials who allegedly thrashed a lawyer in Nayabazar area of Cuttack last month.

"This protest will continue till the four accused policemen are not arrested," High Court Bar Association President Srikant Kumar Nayak said.

According to sources, the association has decided to take a call on the next course of action on Wednesday evening.

The members of the High Court Bar Association have urged lawyers from across the State to take part in the protest.

On August 29, a PCR van parked in front of the Revenue Divisional Commissioner’s office in Cuttack was set on fire a day after lawyer Debi Prasad Patnaik was allegedly thrashed by police personnel in Cuttack which led to a standoff between the lawyers and police.

The lawyer had an argument with some cops sitting inside a PCR van in connection with a road accident case on August 28. Subsequently, the argument turned violent and the policemen allegedly thrashed Patnaik.
