Jeypore: A six-year-old girl from Odisha, who died due to some unknown diseases in Abu Dhabi, has given a new lease of life to three persons through organ donation.

According to sources, the girl named Debishree complained of illness and was immediately rushed to a hospital in Abu Dhabi on July 1, 2019. However, doctor failed to diagnose the diseases.

When, Debishree’s health condition deteriorated and chance of her survival became thin after year-long treatment, the doctors at the hospital approached her family members requesting them to go for organ donation, sources informed.

In the midst of their grief and looking beyond their pain, the family member of the six-year-old displayed exceptional courage and said “yes” to organ donation.

Debishree saved three lives after her death when her kidney, liver and pancreases transplanted to three patients battling for a second chance of life at Sheikh Khalifa Hospital.

“We are really proud as we4 saved three lives. We can see our daughter in those three lives that she saved by donating her organs,” said Debishree’s father Arun Kumar Tawa.

Debishree’s grandparents, who live at Bhupati Sahi in Koraput’s Jeyopre, are also trying to gather some pride in the midst of the grief.

“God has given us an opportunity to save lives through our granddaughter. When the doctor said her chances of survival is grim, we decided to donate her organs which may save few lives,” said Debishree’s grandfather P. Chandrasekhar Gupta.
