Paralakhemundi: A person was killed and three others critically injured in bee attack at Mankadadia waterfall in R Udayagiri of Gajapati district last evening.

Sources said seven youths of Biramekhapur village under K Nuagaon police limits of the district had gone to the waterfall for a picnic yesterday. Four of them were stung by a swarm of honeybees at the site, following which one Sanju Mohapatra fell into the water body and died. The three injured were later admitted to Chandragiri hospital for treatment .

On receiving information, police reached the spot this morning and recovered the dead body from the water body.

Further investigation is on into the incident, sources said.
