Balasore/Baripada/Cuttack:

One person was killed while at least 15 persons were injured in separated road accidents across Odisha today.

In the first instance, one person was killed and 5 others were injured after the ambulance they were travelling in collided with a truck on National Highway-60 near Haladipada in Balasore district.

The injured were initially rushed to Balasore hospital and two persons who sustained critical injuries were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after their conditions deteriorated. The identity of the deceased is yet to be established.

Reportedly the ambulance was carrying a patient to the Balasore hospital from Hasimpur village under Baliapal block in the district.

Similarly, three persons including a shopkeeper were injured after a truck rammed into a shop after hitting two electric poles at Baula bazaar under Nischintakoili police limits in Cuttack district.

The injured were initially rushed to the local hospital and one among them was later shifted to Cuttack SCB.

At least seven passengers were injured after the bus they were travelling in from Nuapada to Bhubaneswar collided with a truck at Khuntuni bazaar in Athagarh.

Sources said two persons sustaining critical injuries were shifted to Cuttack SCB and the rest were admitted to Athagarh hospital. The condition of the injured is stated to be stable now.

In another instance, a pharmacist travelling in an ambulance was injured as his vehicle overturned after veering off the road due to dense fog near Pathara chhak on Udala-Baripada road in Mayurbhanj district today morning.
