Bhubaneswar: In view of the long queues at centres issuing Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates, Odisha government has decided to continue with the issuance of the certificates through both on-line and off-line modes till December 31, 2019.

In a letter to all the district collectors, SPs, DCPs and RTOs, Additional secretary of Transport department Premananda Khuntia said that the government has decided to continue with the issuance of PUC certificates till the end of this year as there are very limited number of pollution testing units (PTUs) in many districts of the State which is resulting in long queues outside the units.

"Government is taking steps towards opening more PTUs in all the districts... Also, the PUC certificates already obtained through both on-line and off-line modes will remain valid till the expiry date indicated in the certificate," Khuntia said in the letter.

Meanwhile, the PTUs may be requested to update their units from off-line to on-line mode and adequate awareness may be made among public for obtaining the required documents by the timeline, he added.
