Bhubaneswar: Odisha police on International Women's Day joined the world to dedicate the day to the women cops serving in the police force for their tireless services in maintaining law and order in the State. Hitting upon a novel way to express gratitude, the Odisha Police took to the twitter and posted photographs of all the personnel who are posted as inspector or officer-in-charge at various police stations in the State.

Women cops account for 9.48 per cent of the Odisha police force. The She-cops have manned the State police at various capacities. The proportion of women cops at the super -supervisory (DGP-DSP) grade has been 2.5 per cent; whereas the proportion at the levels of investigating officers and constabulary stood at 7.5 per cent and 5.2 per cent, respectively.

The She-cops in Odisha have left a trailblazer of successful policing in the State. In recognition to their this stellar performance, Odisha DGP Abhay's novel gesture for the women cops on the duty line in the State has won plaudits from all. The DGP Abhay has also lauded the efforts of women personnel in improving the functioning of police stations in the State.

As per reports, as high as 103 police stations in the State are headed by female cops, and the number is comparably quite higher than other States in the country, claims the State police reports.

Earlier, at a State-level conference of women police held in Cuttack recently, Abhay made public the plan of Odisha police to recruit 50 per cent women officers in the years to come. On the occasion, senior police officials have also made an observation regarding all-out efforts made to resolve several issues pertaining to women officers and personnel, so that they can discharge their duties in a more efficient way.
