OMFED Scam: Odisha Lokayukta Pulls Up IAS Bishnupad Sethy

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Lokayukta has served notices to Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra and Principal Secretary, Department of Culture, Bishnupada Sethy to file their reply within six months over the alleged irregularities in procurement of polythene pouches for packaging milk at the Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation Limited (OMFED) during 2015-16.

The Lokayukta directive comes in response to a complaint filed by RTI activist Pradip Pradhan who alleged that Sethy, the then Managing director of OMFED, had resorted to 'corrupt practices' in the procurement of  poly film packaging materials from Kamala Agency during the period of August, 2015 to June 2016.

The complainant also alleged that the then Chief Secretary had been requested to launch an investigation and take necessary actions to recover the losses caused to the State-owned dairy firm.

“But no such action has yet been taken,” Pradhan alleged.
