Bhubaneswar: Extensive preparations are in place for the smooth conduct of OJEE 2020 in the state, starting tomorrow. The exam will continue till October 19.

Like JEE Main examination, OJEE will be also be conducted on computer based test (CBT) in three shifts per day.

"It's a challenging task to conduct the examination amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, but the state government has ensured all the majors for the hassle-free conduct of the important examination," stated OJEE Chairman Sudeep Kumar Chand.

"The examination is conducted by Skill Development and Technical Education in which other administrative departments like police, electric, water supply are also involved and ready to extend their full cooperation. We are confident of organising the examination successfully," said Chand.

A record number of 80,000 students are appearing OJEE 2020 so the number of centres have also been increased. The examination will be conducted at 51 centres in 21 districts across the state. Meanwhile five centres outside Odisha-Kolkata, Ranchi and Patna will also be in operation.

Chand also informed that a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has been released to conduct the examination in adherence with the Covid-19 guidelines.

"The SOP has been clearly mentioned on the admit cards of the students and a special instruction for candidates has also been released," informed Chand.

According to the SOP, at all the Test Centres, only 50% of the total seating capacity will be utilised such that the gap between consecutive candidates will be maintained as per guidelines. Before the beginning of each shift, the entire test venue including examination halls, door handles, lift switches, railings will be disinfected.

Similarly, before the beginning of each shift, the seating area of each candidate, including chair, desk, monitor, keyboard, mouse will be thoroughly sanitised. All the invigilators and associated staff will be provided with masks and gloves. Candidates will be required to sanitise their hands by washing with soap and with hand sanitiser before entering the centre. Hand sanitisers will be made available at entry and at various places inside the exam venue for use by the candidates and the staff. The entire examination process will be made contactless to ensure the norms of social distancing.

"If all the guidelines will be followed carefully, I hope we will be able to conduct the examination successfully," Chand exuded confidence.
