Bhubaneswar: Union Minister for Mines, Pralhad Joshi and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday jointly inaugurated the production in two new iron ore mines of Odisha -Jiling-Langlota Iron ore block and Guali Iron ore block.
Both the mines have production capacity of 15 lakh tonnes per month and possess 275 million tonnes (approx) of consolidated iron-ore reserves. Member of Parliament from Rajya Sabha, Ashwini Vaishnaw was also present in the inaugural function, which was organised through video conferencing today.
These blocks were recently reserved for the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC), a state PSU, within a short time of 25 days, after a request was made by the Odisha government to the Centre.
“These Mines will help in stabilising the supplies for small industries and will generate huge employment opportunities in the state. The two mines will generate Rs 4000-5000 crores of annual revenue for the state of Odisha,” said Joshi.

The Union Minister also requested Naveen Patnaik to bring more mines into auction and initiate operationalization of all non-working mines, to increase the production and revenue generation in the state.
"Production from these two iron ore mines will immediately address the shortage of raw material in the downstream industries, thus promoting economic activities in the state of Odisha," tweeted Joshi.
Chief Minister's office tweeted, " The mines are targeted to produce 12 billion tonnes of iron ore annually which will increase @odisha_mining ’s production to 20 billion tonne. CM said that Odisha has always taken advanced steps in mining sector and implemented i3MS System for transparency in ore transportation."
