Bhubaneswar: As many as 113 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Odisha in the last 24 hours, taking the total caseload in the State to 339076. This is the fourth time in the last 5 days when the single day caseload crossed 100 counts in the State.

Of the 113 positives reported on Tuesday, 67 were detected in quarantine centres while 46 people had been infected with the virus from local contacts.

Sundergarh district registered the maximum daily spike with 20 new cases while Cuttack with 17 fresh cases remained at the second spot.

Khordha stood third in the list with 14 new infections and Mayurbhanj remained in the fourth place with 11 people having been infected with the virus in the last 24 hours.

All the new cases have been reported from 21 districts while the rest nine districts have witnessed zero cases during that period. Apart from Cuttack, Khordha, Mayurbhanj and Sundergarh, other districts registered single-digit new Covid cases.

As many as 82 patients have recovered in last 24 hours taking the total recovery tally to 336206.

The number of active cases stands at 898 at present while no fatality has been reported in the last 24 hours.

Amid the daily surge in the new cases, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to take a review of the situation with secretaries, Collectors and Superintendent of Police (SPs) today.

The Malkangiri district administration on Monday announced imposition of night curfew for a week as a precautionary measure although the district had recorded no daily case in the last couple of days. The curfew, first time in the last three months, has been imposed from March 23 to 31.

The curfew will remain in force between 9pm and 6 am.
