Bhubaneswar: With a single-day spike of 1547 Covid-19 cases, Odisha’s virus tally went up to 288646 on Friday. Of the fresh cases, 891 patients are from quarantine, while 656 are local contact cases, informed State I&PR department. The death toll in the State has climbed to 1308 with 11 more fatalities in the last 24 hours.

As many as 159 new cases of coronavirus infection were detected from Khordha district, followed by Cuttack (98), Angul (95), Jagatsinghpur (89), and Mayurbhanj (88).

H&FW department has shared the details of the 11 patients who succumbed while under treatment at hospitals.

  • A 55-year-old male of Angul district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
  • A 40-year-old female of Bhubaneswar.
  • A 66-year-old male of Bhubaneswar.
  • A 54-year-old female of Cuttack district.
  • A 62-year-old male of Ganjam district who was also suffering from Hypertension.
  • A 68-year-old male of Jharsuguda district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Bronchial Asthma.
  • A 59-year-old male of Khurda district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
  • A 42-year-old male of Kandhamal district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
  • A 45-year-old male of Nuapada district.
  • A 61-year-old female of Rayagada district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
  • A 67-year-old female of Cuttack district who was also suffering from Hypertension & has undergone Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery and Modified Radical Mastectomy.

So far, 272038 patients in Odisha have recovered from the virus, while active case count is 15247.
