Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 death toll in Odisha rose to 61 after five more persons succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours. Apart from the five deaths, the COVID-19 tally in the State jumped to 12,526 after 570 new cases were reported on Saturday.

As per Health and Family Welfare department, two persons from Ganjam district and one person each from Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Puri districts succumbed to COVID-19.

A highest of 218 cases have been reported from Ganjam district, followed by 46 cases from Cuttack, 44 from Sundergarh, 40 from Jajpur and 37 from Khurda district.
It is pertinent to mention here that Odisha is witnessing a steep rise in COVID-19 cases since July 1. A record single-day spike of 755 cases were reported on Friday.
As per the data shared by I & PR department, a whopping 5,531 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in the last 11 days in Odisha.
