Bhubaneswar: Odisha witnessed a surge in COVID-19 cases following the massive influx of returning migrants, but the State has been showing promising results in terms of recoveries as the total number of patients recovered here is now almost at par with the active cases.

Of the total positive COVID-19 cases in the State (1517), the present numbers of recoveries and active cases now stand at 733 and 777 respectively.

As many as 84 more COVID-19 patients recovered from the disease on Tuesday, informed the State Health and Family Welfare Department.

Of the total recoveries, 24 patients recovered from Ganjam, 18 from Jajpur, 11 from Balasore, 7 from Cuttack, 6 from Bhadrak, 5 from Kendrapara, 4 each from Khurdha and Puri, 2 each from Nayagarh and Mayurbhanj and 1 from Sundergarh.

With this, the total recovery case in Ganjam has reached 272. The district has so far reported 358 positive cases (highest positive cases of SARS-nCoV in Odisha), has now 83 active cases.

Jajpur now tops the COVID-19 chart in active cases in the State with 121 active patients.

On the other hand, the COVID tally in Odisha today breached the 1500 mark as the State reported 79 fresh cases.

Of the new cases, Cuttack reported 16 positives, Ganjam 5, Jajpur 2, Balasore 4, Khurda 4, Puri 4, Kendrapara 6, Nayagarh 3, Bolangir 14, Angul 1, Keonjhar 8, Kandhamal 7, Dhenkanal 3 and Jharsuguda 1 case.

Now, the tentacles of the coronavirus have spread to 29 out of 30 districts in the State. Rayagada is the only district which has managed to protect itself from the contagious disease.
