Bhubaneswar: With the detection of 170 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the total cases in Odisha rose to 6350 on Saturday. Apart from new cases, one more person died of COVID-19, taking the death toll in the State to 18.

Of the total 170 new cases, 143 cases have been reported from various quarantine centres while 27 are local contact cases. The total number of active cases in Odisha now stands at 1903, informed I &PR department.

As per Health and Family Welfare department, a 68-year-old male COVID-19 patient from Ganjam district has succumbed to the disease.

Ganjam district reported a maximum of 58 new COVID-19 cases, followed by 19 cases each from Khurda and Nabarangpur, 16 from Rayagada and 14 from Cuttack district. One NDRF personnel, who had returned from cyclone Amphan duty in West Bengal, has also tested positive for the virus.

COVID-19 infections in Odisha had breached the 6000 mark after 218 new cases were reported on Friday. Of the total 218 new cases, 198 cases were reported from various quarantine centres while 20 cases were local contacts.

Meanwhile, the Health department officials informed that serological survey for Covid-19 with rapid antibody test will be carried out in Puri from today. The sero survey will be extended to other districts including Gajapati, Ganjam and several parts of Badamba-Narasinghpur of Cuttack district and Bhubaneswar in July.
