Bolangir: A youth of Chalki village under Muribahal block in Bolangir district was allegedly duped by a fake finance company.

After coming across alluring advertisements in a newspaper, the youth, Nadia Bag, had contacted the finance company for a loan of Rs 3 lakh. As per the enticing offer, a BPL category individual was being offered farm as well as personal loan up to Rs 25 lakh at an interest rate of mere 4 per cent and a discount of whopping 35 per cent on principal.

Accordingly, Bag sent the required documents including his mark sheet and Aadhaar card on WhatsApp. He also deposited Rs 2,200 for a project report and Rs 8,700 for the agreement, as demanded by the officials of the finance firm.

When he did not get the loan money even after waiting for some days, he contacted the concerned officials, who again sought Rs 10,000 for some RTI-related work.

In the meantime, Bag realized that he is being cheated by the company and lodged a police complaint at Muribahal Police Station.

However, the police officials allegedly refused to register the complaint citing it as a cybercrime case. Muribahal Police officials are yet to comment on the matter.
