Balasore: Three unidentified miscreants attacked a youth inside an ATM counter and looted Rs 35,000 from him in Soro area of Balasore district on Sunday.

The victim, Ajay Barik of Saud area in the district, lodged a complaint in this regard at Soro police station following which an investigation has been launched.

According to the complainant, he went to the SBI ATM counter located near Soro Station in the evening. As he was alone, three miscreants barged into the counter and started assaulting him. They snatched his debit card and forced him to share the PIN.

Later, the perpetrators withdrew Rs 35,000 from the bank account and damaged his laptop before fleeing the spot, alleged Ajay.

Ajay immediately lodged a complaint at Soro police station in this regard following which police rushed to the ATM kiosk and launched an investigation.

Cops said the CCTV camera installed at the ATM kiosk will be examined to find out the robbers.

Notably, Balasore district witnessed a series of ATM loots in the recent past. A group of miscreants had broken open an ATM of Axis Bank at Kamarda market in Bhograi block under Jaleswar police limits and looted money from the cash dispenser on December 3.

The previous day some miscreants had looted lakhs of rupees at Soro by breaking open two ATMs of Axis Bank and another finance company.
