Kendrapara: Tension gripped Kora village under the Nikirai police station in the district on Saturday after some villagers allegedly stripped a woman naked and brutally assaulted her following a dispute with her neighbours.
A video of the barbaric attack which was captured in a mobile phone by some villagers has gone viral on the social networking sites. In the video, the villagers are seen disrobing the woman, mercilessly kicking and punching her multiple times and assaulting her with bamboos.
According to reports, the woman's family had a long dispute with their neighbors. Both the parties had an heated exchange of words on Saturday morning following which the neighbors lost temper and assaulted the woman before stripping her naked along with some by standers.
Though the woman screamed for help it fell in deaf ears of other villagers who helplessly watched the brutality with horror.
Both the parties have filed separate complaints in the Nikirai police station following the incident. Police have registered a case in connection with the assault and launched an investigation.
In a similar incident earlier last month, a man brutally assaulted a mother-daughter duo from his neighbourhood over a property dispute at Patasundarpur village under the Astaranga police limits in Puri district.
The mother and daughter had opposed the man, their immediate neighbour, when he tried to encroach a portion of their land by putting up a temporary fence. At this, the man lost his temper and assaulted both the women.
