Odisha: Woman Gang-Raped On Pretext Of Offering Lift, 2 Held

Keonjhar: A woman was allegedly gang-raped by two dumper drivers on Friday night at Roida square under Barbil Police limits in Keonjhar district.

As per reports, two drivers in a dumper truck picked up the woman while she was returning home from work on the pretext of providing her a lift.

However, as per the complaint lodged at the police station, the accused kept the woman in the truck and gang-raped her through the night before leaving her there on the road.

“The men strangled me and raped me whole night before leaving me on the street,” alleged the woman.

The woman registered a complaint on Saturday following which the police launched a manhunt and nabbed the two accused and seized the dumper truck as well.

Speaking about the incident, DSP of Crime Branch in Keonjhar, Suresh Chandra Patra said, “A case has been registered at the Barbil Police Station in connection with the gang-rape case. The woman’s medical examination has already been done and two accused have been arrested in connection with the case.
