Odisha: Woman 'Drugged, Gang-Raped' By Two Youths In Kandhamal

Kandhamal: Two youths have been arrested for allegedly raping a young woman in a forest near Baliguda under Kotagarh police limits in the district.

Though the unfortunate incident had taken place in January 29, the matter came to light on Sunday after parents of the survivor lodged an FIR with police.

As per the complaint, the woman had gone to a nearby forest for a picnic along with two other women and the accused identified as Asef Badamajhi and Nilambar Badamajhi who are stated to be her relatives.

During the picnic party, the accused duo had consumed country liquor and also offered the same to others.

Two of the women had managed to reach home while the victim could not return under the influence of intoxicating liquor.

Taking the advantage of her loneliness, the Badamajhi duo allegedly raped her in the forest.

Later, the victim narrated the ordeal before her family members following which her parents filed a complaint at local police station.

Based on the FIR, police registered a case and arrested the accused.

After preliminary interrogation, they have been forwarded to court, police said.

The survivor has been sent to a local hospital for medical examination. Further investigation is on.
