Odisha: Woman Charred To Death, Daughter Critical In House Fire

Bhadrak: In a tragic incident, a woman was charred to death in her sleep while her minor daughter suffered critical burn injuries after a massive fire engulfed their house in Bhadrak district on Saturday.

The incident was reported from Mahalasahi under Banitia panchayat in the district. The identity of the deceased was not ascertained immediately.

According to sources, the mother-daughter duo was asleep in the house when the fire started from unknown sources. Though the minor girl managed to rush out of the burning house, her mother got trapped after a burning portion of the house fell on her.

The intensity of the fire was so high that the house was reduced to ashes within no time. After a massive effort by the villagers, the fire was brought under control. However, the woman was no more by the time.

The cause of fire could not be immediately ascertained. The critically injured minor girl was admitted to a nearby hospital.
