Bhubaneswar: It’s like a silver lining in the dark clouds. Yes, amid posting record breaking Covid infection cases in a day, Odisha on Saturday witnessed a steep rise in recoveries of virus cases.

As per the State Health department data, as many as 3464 patients were declared free from Covid infection in the last 24 hours. Sundargarh topped the list with 629 recoveries followed by Khordha (441), Nuapada (339), Kalahandi (259) and Cuttack 209 cases of recoveries.

With the recoveries, the total recovered cases in the State now stand at 3,59,467, informed Health and Family Welfare department.

Notably, Odisha on 2nd October 2020 had registered the highest single-day recovery of 4,380 COVID-19 patients.

The State Capital city Bhubaneswar reported 745 new Covid-19 infections, while 399 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) tweeted.

Earlier in the day, the Covid-19 positive cases in Odisha crossed 4-lakh mark with as many as 6,647 more persons testing positive for the virus. The State reported eight deaths due to the virus in the last 24 hours.

Today’s surge pushed the State’s Coronavirus positive tally to 4,01,341 while the death toll surged to 1,981.

As per the data released by the Health department, Khordha recorded the maximum 1189 cases in the last 24 hours. Other two districts which reported over 500 cases are Sundargarh (788) and Nuapada (559).
