Bhubaneswar: The death toll due to COVID-19 in Odisha surged past 600 mark on Friday after the State reported 14 deaths in the last 24 hours, pushing the tally to 605. On the other hand, the cumulative coronavirus cases in the State went up to 1,43,117 after 3,996 new virus cases were detected in a day.

According to the Health and Family Welfare department, Khordha reported a maximum of five deaths followed by Puri (3), Mayurbhanj (2), and one death each in Cuttack, Koraput, Kalahandi, and Sambalpur districts.

Of the fresh cases reported from across 30 districts, 2,359 were detected from various quarantine centers while 1,637 were local contact cases.

According to the data shared by the I & PR department, Khordha reported the highest 606 novel coronavirus cases followed by Cuttack (354), Puri (279), Balasore (209), Mayurbhanj (160) and Nabarangpur (151).

With the spike, the active cases in the State now stand at 34,458, while 1,08,001 patients have recuperated so far.

Meanwhile, the Health and Family Welfare Department shared the details of 14 Covid-19 positive patients who succumbed while undergoing treatment.

  • A-74-year old female of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Hypertension & Hypothyroidism
  • A-71-year old female of Bhubaneswar district who was also suffering from Diabetes, Hypertension & post Cerebrovascular Accident
  • A 49-year-old male of Khordha district
  • An 86-year-old male of Puri district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Coronary Artery Disease
  • A 72-year-old male of Puri district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension
  • A 43-year-old male of Puri district who was also suffering from Diabetes
  • A 65-year-old female of Mayurbhanj district
  • A 45-year-old female of Mayurbhanj district
  • A 60-year-old male of Koraput district who was also suffering from Diabetes
  • An 80-year-old female of Cuttack district who was also suffering from Diabetes & hypertension
  • A 61-year-old male of Kalahandi district who was also suffering from Hypertension
  • A 45-year-old male of Sambalpur district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Coronary Artery Disease
