Odisha Weather Update: Relief For Coastal Odisha, Western Sizzles With Sonepur At 42 Deg C
Bhubaneswar: Heatwave condition continues to hit normal life in Odisha with nine places in the State recording temperature of 40 degree Celsius or above.
Though the temperature dropped in coastal Odisha bringing much-needed relief to people, mercury soared in the western parts of the State.
Sonepur district emerged as the hottest place in the State with a maximum day temperature of 42 degrees Celsius. Titilagarh emerged second in the list of cities in terms of recording daytime temperature as mercury remained at 41.5 degrees. It was followed by Bolangir (41.3), Boudh (40.8), Malkangiri (40.5), Talchar (40.3), Bhawanipatna (40.2), Jharsuguda (40), and Sunderagarh 40 degree Celsius.
According to the evening weather bulletin of the Indian Meteorological Centre here, there will be no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) over Odisha districts during next 4-5 days.
The maximum temperature (day temperature) likely to be more than 40 degree Celsius at a few places over the districts of Bolangir, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur during next 2 days.
“It is advised to take precautionary measures while going outside for hot weather conditions around noon (11 am- 3 pm) in these areas during the next 2 days,” the weather office added.
