Odisha: Vaccination Of Lingaraj Temple Sevayats Starts Tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: Covid-19 vaccination of the servitors of Lord Lingaraj temple will commence from Thursday at the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Hospital in the Capital City.

BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary has issued an order to start the vaccination drive of the sevayats from March 10. Around 50 servitors will be given the Covid jab on a daily basis.

"Around 300 sevayats are expected to be vaccinated and arrangements have been made accordingly," said Suvendu Kumar Sahoo, Deputy Commissioner of Health, BMC.

The session will start at 10 am and it will continue as per the normal timing, he said.

As on March 16, a total dose of 1,07,678 vaccines have been given. Out of these 44244 doses have been given to health workers, 23355 doses to frontline workers and 40079 doses to elderly persons and comorbidity cases.

According to sources, as many as 31 sites are being used as vaccination sites.

"Capital hospital, four Urban Community Health Centers (UCHCs) and AIIMS are being used as vaccination sites every day except Sunday and public holidays. All Urban Primary Health Centers (UPHCs) have vaccination sites on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. All private hospital sites are also open for vaccination every day except Sunday and public holidays," said C VSN Rao, Additional District UrbanĀ  Public Health Officer (ADUPHO).
