Odisha: UTP Dies While During Treatment In Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: An under trial prisoner (UTP) lodged at Dhenkanal jail died while undergoing treatment at district headquarters hospital here on Wednesday.

The deceased identified as Brahmananda Dehury had been lodged in the district jail since 2013 in connection with a murder case. Dehury is a resident of Haripur area in the district, reports said.

He was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday night after he complained of severe stomach ache. Hospital sources said, he didn't respond to the treatment and died in the morning.

Two days ago, a similar incident had occurred in Malkangiri district when an under trial prisoner (UTP) lodged in the district sub-jail died under mysterious circumstances during treatment at district headquarters hospital. The deceased has been identified as Danu Golori, a resident of Khajuriguda of Swabhiman Anchal in the district. Family members of the deceased had suspected foul play over the death of Golori. They had alleged that Golori had been murdered with sharp weapon as his neck bore a deep cut mark.
